I really only care about blocking voices out. Between the office and my house with the kids and other people around the house that’s my most significant distraction, listening to your recordings. The AirPods perform way better than the Bose in my opinion.

Very thorough analysis. That’s a fact. But the devil is in the details. What does it matter that on paper Bose are the best when the sound I heard in the speakers suited me best with Sony.

Interesting test. I bet though once music is playing whilst ANC is on you wouldn’t hear much if any outside noise. The clincher only comes when you start using them with ANC and no music.
Love this! Thanks! Hearing each headphone as of they are on your own had is very helpful. It all sounds great through my Bose QC Ultra’s sitting on a very delayed flight … I can confirm the accuracy of "how an airplane sounds" with the ANC lol.
Add the sound of a working combustion engine to the tests, preferably diesel, you can find such in buses.

I’m gonna add to the many positive voices here. Really cool video, it gives me an idea of how they perform. But you know, human ears are so different and also I don’t think those microphones you used in the test accurately represent how the ANC is gonna perform for a person. Mics pick up sound waves in a different manner than ears, so of course the ANC will be processed differently.
Discrepencies become clear when comparing your results with the samples from each headphone. The AirPods Max sound better (quieter) than the Bose QC Ultra in most samples you gave, yet the values from your measurements don’t mirror that, with the Bose getting better values.
So nobody should make a decision based on this video, but yeah as I said, it does give you an idea. Pretty impressive work from Apple; they make one over ear headphone 5 years ago and they are still up there among strong competition. Although it makes me thing how much innovation is held back artificially by companies so consumers have more reason to buy the newest product.

Thank you so much for testing the ANC on high frequencies!!!! This is actually the main thing I need them for, because I live in a weird ghetto city where for some reason it’s very popular to just blast audio from your phone without using headphones at all. I’m extremely sensitive to these sharp electronic noises that come from other people’s phones… so i always bring ANC headphones whenever i have to go outside 😔 my top priority is high frequency but no one seems to talk about it…
I havent seen another comparison so in depth. I like the idea of using an actual graph instead of relying on our ears, cuz noise levels and audio quality are pretty subjective from person to person, so this is the most accurate way to show how good the anc really is. Great Video!
