Quest 3 or 3S for the standalone and pcvr both being a possibility, 3S for budget and for most is more than enough, but if you have the money to spare fir the 3 I’d say go for the 3 for the better lenses and such!
Recently started using my Beyond 2 to replace my monitors, and it is really good! I just wish it had the same high resolution as my Vision Pro, because of it’s weight and size, it is so much better for those 6-8 hours gaming sessions.
Excellent video showing what’s available. I’ve no interest in being tethered to anything and no interest in buying a powerful gaming pc just for a headset. I’m strictly max 1.5 to 2 hours a day so standalone Quest 3s with a comfortable 3rd party strap is perfect for me. The quality of the screen is good enough for me, seeing as the last time I tried VR before getting back into this year was the Samsung Gear VR back in 2016. I was blown away with the quality of the games and the whole ecosystem. I imagine the enthusiast long term player will prefer the Quest 3. As far as the Pico is concerned I did get to try a friend’s and it looks good, but he’s not happy about the lack of content. The Apple headset is a waste of money in my opinion..it will end up on the scrap heap as so many Apple products do not enough users, and it will fade away and die. Just my opinion !
Meta sent out an update (I received it 25/15/08) that made ALL quest 3 and 3S that worked with charge as you play cables like iniu and such STOP WORKING All you get is a connect disconnect sound from the headset and they’re not fixing it, some even say it’s intentional. The fact remains, BE AWARE that if you buy a quest 3 or 3S, know that you will have to rely on it’s very short life battery (2 hours or less) and game play, or get one of those battery extender strap. No more charge as you play… and unfortunately it’s why I bought my quest 3 to play sometimes all night (Elite dangerous, flight sim etc.) on those games 2 hours is VERY short time

for a first VR headset, especially budget friendly, the Quest 3s is the best option.
The battery life sucks and the power cable is too short for the quest 3

Looks like you forgot about the Pimax Crystal Super. Res 3840 x 3840. The Light is now an old-ish headset (smaller FOV and resolution).
