For edifier w820 does it have noise cancelling even without music? Im looking for a good headphones for studying!! I cant study with music and background noise
I bought the Sony Ult Wear in winter 2024, I am pretty happy with it. I had learned from my experience owning the WH-1000X m3 that these things don’t take to abuse very well, so I learned from that mistake and religiously place the Ult Wear in its case after every use. I hope that it would last better this time around.
Alas, turns out there was a Sony service item for this Ult Wear, and unfortunately it happened to me. So like the place where the cup swivels? A piece of plastic was apparently a supplier’s fault I think, they cheaped out and use dollar-store plastic instead of NASA plastic, and if you so much as look at it wrong, it would snap. And that’s what happened to my. As I said before, I baby this thing, but one day it just snapped. A piece of U shaped plastic fell to the floor–along with a similarly shaped metal also fell to the floor. I placed both broken pieces–along with the Ult Wear–and contemplating how painful it is going to be to send all this back to Sony.
I tried the Sony website, and the chat bot was just completely asinine. For a company with a industry-leading AI-powered active-noise cancelling, it was a bit of a head turner that the website’s chat bot is ostensibly still from 1980s. But I guess I’ll find some free time one of these days and persist–try to get to a human being. I think Sony can do better.
I am not sure I am in the business of buying an alternative to the Ult Wear, I am pretty happy with it (aside from the issue with the use of dollar store plastic). I don’t think we are paying far too little that Sony has to resort to dollar store plastic–I don’t know what the deal is there. Like I get that these headsets are just going to be far more comfortable being light on our head–but it doesn’t mean they get to resort to the cheapest of plastic. I don’t know how to impart this important message to Sony execs. 🙁
Id say MX5 are better in noise cancellation however comfort level, the qc45 are much better and decent noise cancellation.
Will the Bose headphones work well if I wear glasses?…not sure if the frames will disturb the seal between my head and the headphones….

Remember if buying high class Bluetooth headphones, you CANNOT get better than Bluetooth sound quality (which is very bad). The audio difference between an XM5 and air maxes is the same, the difference lies in features. Or you can just be an airheaded consumer and buy apple so people think you’re rich.
Some people say that the soundcore space Q45 are budget headphones because of the price. I would say with all the features you get with them their mid-tier headphones at a budget price.
A note for my autistic friends or sound sensitive neurospicies;
I just bought the edifier on the best budget category and it has better ANC overall than my soundcore q30 but it has a rebound sound on really high frequency sounds that makes me crazy.
It also is a little bit rough on the head, I mean it is not so flexible and my head hurts from being a little bit squished by them. Soundcore is better for that too, lighter, more flexible and softer.
I’ll return them and buy the soundcore Q45 even if it’s pricier I hope it’s better for me. And hope it helps!
If I´m reading this right, the Sony Ult wear rank in the middle of the High end on ANC. Great stuff. THank you. Also, I´m not expecting much but would love to hear how these fare against low frequency noise.

I have Edifier earbuds and they are great bang for your buck as well, as are they speakers. I have their speakers in my bedroom set up.

the edifier feel super cheap they sound OK but for that price are much better options. I usually like edifier but this feel really cheaply made.

I’ll just reply here to all the people asking me. The soundcore anker space Q45 is pretty good. The noise cancellation levels are the same as my friend’s previous gen Bose quietcomforts (which are like $400 headphones that are considered some of the best at noise cancelling). Battery life is great and the dual connectivity helps me personally because I’m not allowed to download apps on my work computer so I can control everything from my phone. It’s also pretty comfortable. So yea for $100 it’s a good buy
But I have nothing but bose I wanted something else lol 😂 I do love bose though not gonna lie
