This is an idea I do like and I actually do somthikg similar once u find the mascara wand u like why not just keep using it and boots does great refill mascara but they come in plastic! So it’s a fail but it is less plastic then a whole tube every time so that’s somthing.
Many of the comments say that plastic applicators break down which makes them bad for you so maybe you could try getting a metal applicator mascara like Judydoll as a one time plastic purchase the next time you need a new mascara wand?

Vinegar is a much better disinfectant, short of bleach. I’d actually consider bleach followed by multiple rinses.

Honestly a fantastic idea! Yes, plastic will break down, so definitely continue to be safe with it, but it’s not hurting anyone to reuse the tube if you’re happy with it! Great idea 💡

This is something that I should switch to because mascara does cause a lot of waste but I also have specific formulas I like so finding that as a cake or refill will be a little tricky

I’m not gonna buy a new water bottle until my old water bottle is unusable. Why not just get a glass mascara bottle and replace the applicator every once in a while? way less plastic, and you avoid messing with your eyes (not recommended).

When I was a teen, I got a bag of 10 mascara wands, the kind makeup artists use to not spread infections. I now plan on hopefully never having to buy another mascara wand ever again.

I think a metal wand is way more mindful! This plastic is going to break down and could cause some serious infections, plastic sadly takes forever to desintegrate but it doesn’t mean it can be used forever! They’re two completely different things
If you ever do want to rid mascara tubes, a lot of vets like you to recycle them and they can be used to help animals. Just incase you ever want to throw them😃😃

mascara is cool but i’ve noticed petroleum jelly also makes my lashes look awesome! and perhaps if kept in a glass jar you’d escape the plastic use altogether. (note: it may run into your eyes and idk the side effects of that)
I just realized I don’t think I have the time to be zero waste. I don’t think I’m willing to devote time or mental energy to cleaning and refilling a mascara tube.
