For hot wheels, it has to be RLC. The Elite 64 are nice for sure, but Mini GT has that segment in my opinion. I by hot wheels because I want it to be flashy. That said that 22b is truly gorgeous. I have it carded still and every once in awhile I think I’m going to crack it, but I think it’ll be a very special and regarded car in the future
The best premium doesn’t have to be car culture. Boulevard etc. RLC etc… it can simply come down to the car itself for the individual themselves.. ..
As well as even considering something vintage.. thats got scars on it from use by a child.. (from their own childhood or someone else’s).

The old 100% Hot Wheels line was top tier. Now that line was top tier.
I want to support Elite 64,. but the subject matter they choose to model for the line is consistently mediocre. And at times, the quality is a mediocre too. The line hasn’t yet put out a "killer app" but I remain hopeful. They should release Ferraris under Elite64 IMHO

They also seem to all look the same being the same chromatic colors and when you have a bunch of them, none seem to stand out as special. Got to go RLC, Elite 64, Premium. The STHs are watered down RLCs. If I am going to spend 40 to 50 for a hot wheel casting rather have an RLC than a STH. Just my point of view.

I always thought the RLC models should have inserted headlight and tail light details like they do with the Elite 64 models instead of tampos. For the amount an RLC car costs it definitely can be done.

I found an interesting casting today. Basically, someone put a set of hotwheels tires on a matchbox mazda mx 30 from the 70th anniversary set. It was then put on the pegs. It has the tell tail signs of it being done, but in a way, it now has a stoy I would like to know about. Interesting find.

I would agree with you, but do think that RLC would technically sit at the top. This is because the “Red Line Club” naming harkens back to Hot Wheels history and they seem to go all out on the card art, card quality, or display packaging. I’ve seen the argument that they used to number them, but have transitioned to a made-to-order business model, which does take away from some of the exclusivity. If you study RLC models, you will see that they sit within an aesthetic theme of their own with the chrome metallic paint and Hot Wheels design elements, which I think brings home the trophy of “Top Premium Hot Wheels”.
Elite 64 is incredible though… as an automotive designer, I am a huge fan…. and I’d make the case that it actually starts to tip toe away from Hot Wheels elements and into a league of its own. I feel like each Elite 64 model is actually about the individuality of the vehicle while simultaneously showcasing the model making technologies Mattel is pushing in production. If you were to put that BMW wagon next to a Mini GT wagon and asked a collector who hasn’t seen either model before to identify each brand, it could be challenging.
I don’t collect BMW, but that wagon showcase is incredibly tempting!!!

Id say if i were to rank them id go by quality/detail.. id say rlc is best, elite 64, premium hotwheels/transports, silver series, and then mainline… as for rarity in mainline sth, premium 0 chases, legends tour, and rlc its hard to say.. they arent numbered with how many are released so you can only go by how many per case or for rlc/legends tour you just dont know 🤷♂️ i feel “rarity” is cool but can be inflated by hype.. there could be a regular mainline like the f40 Ferrari that could be considered rare but mass produced 🤷♂️
Hey Phil! Craig from Maine USA here. I don’t know if you would consider them premiums but I’m into rarity. In my opinion the best Hot Wheels are the mail is. I believe they only made each one of these cars to order so they’re not overproduced like all the other Hot Wheels. I don’t imagine a whole lot of people kept participating to buy 20 cars then send the cards back in with shipping and handling to get one mail in car. I have all the cars when Kmart and Toys r Us used to do those special mail in events until Kmart and Toys r Us went out of business. I didn’t bother doing the mail ins anymore after that. I wish I could find out the total production numbers on each mail in car. I would imagine there more scarce than a super treasure Hunt or an RLC. I’d like to hear what you have to say Phil about this. I’m always tuned in to you. Be well my friend and happy collecting!
I completely agree with you. Elite64 are truly outstanding Hot Wheels models. I also bought the M3 Touring. It’s a wonderful model and definitely worth the price. Absolutely competitive compared to MiniGT or TarmacWorks. Liked and subscribed. Best regards from Germany.
Thanks for sharing phil !! I guess its all what the collector can afford for his hobby that makes him or her happy. Their are multiple companies out their with all different levels and pricing. I try to keep my collection controllable. And not let it control me like most collectors. Its a hobby not an obsession. Thanks for the ride phil one hell of job on your videos.

RLC is the creme de la creme, followed by Elite 1/64, followed by Legends Tour, followed by premium chase cars, and lastly. Super Treasure Hunts.
