Now that the 9800X3D is out, we wanted to see what desktop CPU everyone’s actually buying these days. Spoiler: it’s AMD again, but this time it’s NOT a more budget-friendly option.

  1. The steam hardware survey has lots of old computers listed on there. And people don’t have amazing top tier machines even if its new to them. Zen+ is probably more the kind of thing that people might go to who are on a much lower budget than anyone who has the newest hardware. And clearly intel comparing to the zen+ generation well intel wasn’t doing so bad at that point at all so the could easily upgrade to intel of a similar generation.

  2. And Here i am. Still Rocking my old ryzen 5 3600 non xt. Slightly overclocked to Match the xt. Still working great for me.

  3. I’m thinking that I’m gonna stay on am4 at least until the newer generation comes out so I can upgrade to AM5 for cheap. I have a 5800 X3D and a 3090 TI kingpin and I really don’t want to retire them because that GPU is very special to me. But if those damn 4090s come in stock for MSRP😏

  4. It has been 15 years since last i owned a pc, now, looking to buy one i m so confused and got dragged by my friends thinking i should buy more spec i think of pure vanity. From what I checked during my research a 1.2k€ pc would satisfy any casual 1080p player imo. Now i have a prebuilt in shopping cart for 1.7k because my friends told me to use these specs, indeed it looks very good performance wise, i just think it is a bit overkill as I don’t really want 4k gaming. 1080p is more than enough. Am I right or do I really must have the 1.7k spec? I can give details for pc spec

  5. It’s because any over-clockable 6-8 core cpu is fine for gaming so no reason to upgrade. Plus… I don’t recall seeing any 1080p monitors in Best Buy recently.

And going from 196fps at 1080p to 227fps is utterly irrelevant.

  6. 13900k made me hate Intel – i will never recommend it and i will never buy intel again.
Even if AMD cant keep up with intel´s performance, ill still have less fps and stay AMD.
Intel has be come a giant of ignorance.

  7. i just got my 7800x3d today threw microcenter it was in a bundle 499$ for 7800x3d motherboard and 32gb ddr5 6000 super good deal i was uprading the pc from i7 8700k and 3080 to 7800x3d and 5080

  8. I am new to pricing gaming PCs (or builds) and I have found one consistent fact: Gaming PC’s are a unpredictable hole where you throw money, i.e. golf for PC nerds and EVERY one of you on Youtube have conflicting opinions, many are vulgar and hateful and NO ONE thinks anything than the most expensive version of any component is worth buying. So Xbox it will be because dropping $2500+ on something that will CONSTANTLY need upgrading or trouble shooting is like being a boat owner…..the greatest day is when you guy and when you get rid of it.

  9. ive always had "budget" PCs and rn im saving up for a monster (compared to my current one Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 5500XT) to one that has a RX 7800 XT and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for around $1500 USD. is that price worth it?

  10. sorry still team blue here because I do lots of math based productivity as well as game. My 14700k runs like butter on both. i play cyber punk on max with zero issues.

  11. I noticed today that if i buy the ultra 7 togheter with water cooling and motherboard and ram i will pay like 900dollars. The motherboard costs 250-300 dollars. That is with ddr5 and pci express 5 and thunderbolt port included for my sound interface.. I think thats a very good price and no future bottleneck when the 4090 is lowering in price and i will buy it. But if i buy anything from amd and want ddr5 and pci express 5 i have to pay like 400-600 dollars just for the motherboard if i want the thunderbolt port.. So just because i want to try amd i need to buy a motherboard for INSANELY HIGH PRICE. So yeah. Price just went from 900 running intel and getting everything i need to whooping 1500 dollars for amd!!!!…!!!!!!

So say whatever you want. Amd sucks. They are scammers. You just dont know about it but the price is all hidden in the motherboard. That is what you get…..So instead of complaining about intel you should maybe think about that. Im pissed off.

  12. Strange bug on this video, it auto-plays on firestick soon as I open the YouTube app. Had to actually restart( holding middle button and play/pause) to clear.

  13. Get L3 chache and put in on top of your CPU. I really wonder what Intel are thinking. Aren’t they going to beat AMD by releasing something similar to Amd X3D series? Isn’t it already known the recipe of success? Prices should become at least something better afterwards I believe.

  14. I DONT game but i needed more cores so i went from ryzen 5 3600x to a ryzen 9 3900x for $ 100 if i could have found a 5900x for what i could spend i would have got that into i dont have the $$ to go am5 right now

  15. I chose the 7800x3d instead of 9800x3d for my 5090 RTX build for price. I paid around $416 for the 7800X3D.

  16. Kve really been trying to get back into these videos but with 2 or more sponsored ad inserts coupled with all the product plugs sprinkled around. It doesn’t seem like infotainment anymore it’s all just one big commercial now.

  17. I’ve got a Ryzen 5 5600 from 2021 and it’s still pretty solid for gaming and some recording 👌🏽

  18. Great breakdown of the CPU market shifts! You touched on some solid points, especially the dominance of AMD in recent sales. But there’s one thing I think is worth diving into: the future of Intel’s mid-range chips. We’ve seen AMD surge with the 7800X3D, but Intel isn’t out of the picture just yet. The rumored 14th Gen chips could shake things up, especially with performance per dollar.

Also, you mentioned how AM4 is still a great option for budget builds, which is spot on. However, I’d love to see a deeper dive into how the upcoming Intel 13th Gen (if they ever drop in price) might fare against the AM5 chips—especially since Intel’s pricing has been more aggressive lately.

I know we’re all AMD fanboys here, but is Intel’s *value* finally starting to look competitive again with the 13600K? Any thoughts on this?

    Great content, keep it up!

  19. i only buy AMD cpu for my home computer, my travel mini pc is intel but it is cheap that one reasons i got intel mini pc 2nd reason mini pc and 2.5k 16 inch screen the whole setup uses 40w a pc i can run anywhere even in my car so that only every reason id go intel but a computer for hard grafted it has to be an AMD and it has been that way since i made my first custom build way over 25 years ago. currently running a R7 1800x and it still great but id prob upgrade at some point to a newer am4 cpu just depends how much better it is over 1800x

  20. i bought it for 266 $ on trendyol i was expecting to be scammed but holy shit it actually was legit its even came in original packaging and now i have it sitting on my desk for the future upgrade haha

  21. Just upgraded to team AMD for first time last week. 9700k to a 7800X3D. Doubled my fps in basically every game

  22. Why to buy Intel if an i7 can’t be run on a $120 Mobo. Mostly people buy on budget and Intel is a no no. F the Z series board. I ain’t spending $200 on a mobo for no reason but just to run i7 in the future.
AMD $130 Mobo can run any CPU there is for the platform. That is why F Intel CPUs….

  23. the majority of people on steam are probably still using ancient pcs, and they only upgrade the gpu if at all. If you take a look at the hardware stas, a HUGE chunk of the PCs from steam are using GPUs worse than a 1080, and that card is what, 10 years old?

    I’m talking about like 20-35%.

  24. I see I7 14700k 20 cores for 380 euro. I think thats the best deal. The Ryzen for the almost equal price 9700X has only 8 cores (LOL). The AMD might look good today but the Intel will look good in 5 years.

  25. They’re really underselling how impactful a cpu really is. There are plenty of games that are CPU bound. Many of them which are mainstream and popular.

  26. Can you please make a video about getting am5 motherboards yo accept 4 sticks of ddr5 memory at the xmp speeds without constant issues?

  27. 2-3 years ago when my channel started AMD CPU and AMD GPU combined were the laptops being sold like hot cakes (MSI Bravo & MSI Alpha which I had almost got for myself too) but after that there simply weren’t any laptop with AMD CPU & GPU at all. There were only a few laptops from Asus but they were overpriced by a lot.

I still want to recommend AMD over Intel and over Nvidia but I simply can’t find them selling in India at even a price worth considering compared to Nvidia.

  28. Because you cant play poe without it, intel is just constant freezing in high tier jusied maps

  29. a lot of prebuilts are intel chips which is i think is why, custom pc nowadays are usually AMD

  30. avoid intel cpus like the plague. It has horrible thermal efficiency (50C at 15% CPU consumption), so if you want to avoid having your cooler sound like a fucking jet engine over nothing, go with amd
