The new “Best" CPU! – AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

AMD’s newest and great CPU is here — the Ryzen 9 9950X3D! Jake just bought a 9800X3D, but with upgraded boost clocks, increased cache sizes, and double the cores and threads, the 9950X3D looks like it should be better in every way.

  1. i would choose 9950X non 3D for work. it does not gain not much of performance with more cache. i just hope 2 CCD have more cache not just 1.

  2. Big question: is it actually worth spending the money for an X3D when gaming at 1440p or above? Because, honestly: who does "productivity" or work on a screen that is less than 1440p?

  3. The amount of money i just spent ordering a Astral 5090 and 9950X3D….i wont be upgrading for a very very long time

  4. Something interesting (that I’m sure someone smarter than me can explain) is that

When playing Valorant or League (and one time when switching from DLSS in BG3) my computer computer completely powers off.

When I enabled 3D game mode the crashes stopped but I noticed CPU dips. So turned CCD1 back on and it works fine. But I only have access to 14 cores (one less for each CCD)

  5. OK, you got your cash for pushing this AMD CPU.
Now make another video that tells the truth.
This AMD is for gamers. Less than 20% of people who buy computers, bought them to do gaming. the other 80% want to do work.

  6. In most operating systems you can pin processes to specific cpu cores… So if you wanted to run your game on the chiplet with extra L3 cache then you could already do that by affinitizing the process.

  7. I built a 9950x3d, 6000 cl26 64gb, 4 tb gen 5 ssd, rtx 5090. I got the 9950 because of all the 7zip stuff I do and emulation.

  8. I’m a little disappointed they left out the AM4 X3D chips from the benchmark graph. My 5800X3D ain’t going anywhere for a while.

  9. How far away are we from getting 1 gig of cache. Since transistors cannot get any smallers at this point. Cpu’s have maybe 2-3 more generations of getting faster. Then, I believe the cache race would be the thing up next and then game and software developers will start using lazy about optimising for cache. and in like 2050’s we will have people flipping out because a cpu just has 8 gigs of Cache on it (and gpu’s with 1 terrabite of vram).

  10. So does that mean that if you’re gaming and streaming it turns off the other cores rather than just using them for the streaming software?
    Seems a waste.
I wouldn’t want to have to use process lasso just to be able to do that.

  11. My god I thought Americans were bad with eyeran and eyerack, no, its pronounced Cashaye. Id assumed you knew, as its french.

  12. I need advice.
Is it better to just get a high core cpu and no gpu that is able to perform well in both games and productive workloads. So the budget of the gpu is used in the cpu. How can i know the performance of the igpu in these chips and compare them to regular external gpus

  13. The best part is with Process Lasso you can stream/work and Play games without losing performance and without coreparking. I can simulate with 8 cores and the x3d cores are for games.

  14. People need to realize most gamers don’t care if they gain no advantage of buying a $1000 cpu if they have the money they’re going to buy it. Why you ask fk you that’s why.

  15. What about Audio/DAW performance? Would be interesting to know how this CPU does in low-latency tracking situation and with big mixing/sound design sessions with lots of vsts and VI loaded.

  16. The Intel Core i9-14900KS is currently considered the fastest desktop processor available, achieving a record-breaking turbo frequency of 6.2 GHz. It is a "Special Edition" processor designed for high-performance tasks like gaming and professional content creation

  17. To try and make it simple for anybody..
In gaming you are NOT getting 128mb L3 V cache OR 16 cores! You are getting 96 mb of L3 V cache and 8 cores. (Same as a 9800x3d)

The extra 32 mb of L3 are much slower and SEPERATE, and used for multi tasking and multi thread loads along with the 8 extra cores.

All these software optimizations are to ensure that Games don’t use the WRONG 8 cores and 32mb of L3 and ALWAYS use the 96 mb L3 V cache side.. (In theory)

But there is room for "mistakes" to be made and either windows scheduling OR amd drivers not properly flaging a program to use the correct L3 V Cache. (This DOES HAPPEN)

Functionally in a video game the Ryzen 9 9950x3D IS a Ryzen 7 9800 X3d with slightly lower base clock speed, and slightly higher boost clock speed. Effectively evening out..

If you want this for a mostly gaming PC, you should just save some money and go with the Ryzen 7 9800x3d.
ESPECIALLY if you don’t want to worry about potential scheduling and partitioning mistakes with future driver updates or games not being flagged properly.

    Hi,
I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to reach out because I’m currently working on life that requires an additional monitor to enhance my productivity.
I understand this is quite an ask, but if you’re able to assist me by purchasing a monitor or providing funds towards one, I would greatly appreciate it! I believe this investment will significantly improve my workflow and allow me to deliver better results.
Thank you very much for considering my request; I truly value any support you can provide!

    Best regards
