biggest difference, and why id choose the quest 3 any day of the week over the index, or even the newer psvr2…PANCAKE LENSES. if you dont know what that is, you know how absolutely annoying finding a clear sweetspot is on headsets? you know those sqwiggly lines on the lenses that absolutely destroy clarity? yeah, those are fresnel lenses. Pancake lenses are completely smooth, and doesnt suffer from a small sweetspot, as the entire lense is crystal clear (except the extreme edges of course). if you never played in pancake lenses, i urge you to try it. what a difference, and it made me love vr again…STOP USING FRESNEL LENSES!!!!
which game is at 1:37
$500 vs $1000 (+$1000 for a decent PC/laptop)
Quest 3 any time – standalone gaming. I don’t want to lug around tracking boxes and wires.
But for hardcore VR gaming, yeah, Index is better
Index: You get to keep the cable and not all that wirelss bs and fantastic controllers.
Quest: You support Meta.
You should learn the definition of "couple". Valve index didn’t release "a couple" years ago, it released 5,5 years ago! (5 at the time of recording)
population one is on steam too tho?
on my 3rd index controller they are good just cheaply made replace the joystick when it breaks or you will have to rma 2 times a year, fyi
The Valve index is $500 now, so it’s much more affordable.
1000$ + 1000$ pc to play high quality games games at a minimum vs a 500$ standalone vr headset
Useless AI generated junk
Quick question I was thinking about changing from the meta quest three to the valid index how do I link my meta-quest three headset to the valid index?
Forgot once you buy accessories for quest 3 it exceeds price of index
If anyone new is looking to buy this quest 3, dont. For 600 euros, the quality is idiotic. Mine for example, came with a broken face protection. I decided to try it despite that before replacing to new one. Half an hour in, still can’t even test it. After initial setup, you will be asked for a mandatory installation of some fishy meta app, which apparently only required to well, I don’t even know what is it required for. Everyone said it’s only for initial registration then can be uninstalled.
So I register an account. It immediately gets blocked. Start solving 10 captchas. Then it asks for face photo to unblock an account which I created 5 minutes ago xD Like seriously, wtf?!@?!. Do I also have to take a photo of my ID? Maybe bank account too? And then I will be granted right to use the damn TV on my face? xDD WTF?! And that app supposedly is not even required, so why the hell do I have to go through hell just to register on some fishy app????
I immediately know it is to be refunded and I will buy other product, probably with less marketing and better quality instead. Maybe it’s time to try valve
Bro said bigger game library💀💀💀
yeah tbh the lack of a cable for the quest is a deal breaker for me. I hate wireless shit, I desire the strength and certainty of a cable, something I can actually rely on.
quest is trash if u compared to valve index only 1 reason for u , que graphics and resolution all the way a 100 years away from meta this comparison is dumb
Question 3 is not a comfortable headset the index was way more comfortable imho
Is the valve index wireless?
Am I the only one that cares about gorilla tag
An important think to remember: meta is 100% subsidizing the cost of the quest headsets by selling & using your data. The Index has absolutely none of that. From an information collection point of view it may as well just be a monitor.
quest 3 can do same as valve index becouse you can connect it to pc and play steam games
I plan to get the Valve Index as I’m the only person in my household who plays VR and I have a small bedroom and I prefer cables for the very little space I have to move. I currently have the Oculus Rift and waiting for it to die as I have a much better PC now that can take advantage of the Valve Index.
Pimax anyone?
Which vr headset its the best of all time?
Quest 3 is 120 not 110
Air Link SUCKS. It never works and I’ve had TWO quests. Might as well be a wired headset if you wanna do anything with VR connected to your PC
I feel like you forgot to mention a really HUGE part of it. Your personal data.
Buying a quest, a « cheap » Vr, you are selling your data in return of a « discount » on the price.
Meta use your data for future Advertising and all their madness, when you buy a vr like valve, you pay for privacy at the same time.
This, for me. Is a deal breaker
One headset maps your house and uses your data against you….and one doesn’t. And FYI, you can play all Oculus games on Index.
Why don’t you talk about the trash tracking of meta quest3
Index for life man.
This entire video is misleading and inaccurate
I use quest 3, link cable, steam vr, steam link, air link and no matter what the game, the resolution, the headroom i always get frame drops
every few secs and ive tried everything i can think of, can anyone help?
Quest 3 all day long no wires and you can sit on couch and play gamepass on a giant screen
To be honest I’d just say to anyone who wants a good VR headset to just get a Quest 3, it just has so many things to it software and hardware wise that just makes it a replacement to the Index, and no the knuckle controllers aren’t worth it, why? Cause they are very Very prone to breaking a lot faster then with a Quest 3 controller which may be less advanced, but unlike the Knuckles their built like bricks
Bro gorilla tag has ouly 3 fingers
Bro we’re talking about VR not mixed reality
THINGS PCVR USERS NEED TO KNOW:
—————————————————————
the quest 3 has higher resolution but doesnt really benefit from it due to having video compression. in order to send the visual data from your pc to the headset, it needs to take the frames of the game, convert it into some sort of real time video file and then compress it in order to send that data quickly through your cable to your headset. this happens in this headset compared to pcvr only headsets due to it opting for a USB-C cable instead of displayport which is much more suited for sending video and audio data in real time. they most likely chose USB-C due to standalone needing charging and it would be odd for standalone users to have the cable split into a displayport that they dont even use.
also, the quest 3 is pretty incompatible with AMD for some reason. you’ll constantly have the AMD driver timeout whilst playing and this kicks you back to the standalone menu and one of 2 things will either happen. either you cant get back into the link and have an infinite loading screen or you’ll successfully link but be stuck at 2 frames per second. in order to fix this you need to fully reboot your pc and reinitialize the link.
also you need a custom cable since the headset doesnt come with a proper cable, the wireless link has delay and horrid compression and the one you get from paying $70 AUD extra is really cheaply made, with mine having the metal connector of the USB snap off in just 3 months of infrequent use. if you do get a custom cable, make sure it is made for the quest 3 and has good reivews (i’d personally ask reddit or look for a post since reviews on the store site themselves are usually faked). even when you do get this cable, you’ll have to make another purchase to be able to charge whilst playing otherwise you’ll have to be limited to a 3-4 hour session every time you play. you’ll have to buy a wall powered usb hub (FOR USB 3.0 SPECIFICALLY. thats the blue one if you dont know).
also do not charge it by plugging it into your pc directly. instead use the USB hub mentioned before or use a wall charged as the pc will not send power to your headset. also the headset has 2 completely different menu and ui. you’ll have the standalone one that shows up only during standalone use and the PCVR one from the meta pc app. these 2 menus have competely different settings and most features in the settings on the standalone one do not transfer over to the link. this means stuff like the finger tracking feature for example are not possible when using pcvr.
overall this headset just feels really hostile and unintuitive for pcvr use. i find myself missing my Rift-s i had before which should be a downgrade in every way except for the fact it was natively pcvr and didnt need charging and all these extra purchases. my advice to PCVR enthusiasts is to stay well away from standalone headsets and only use headsets MADE for pcvr such as the index. i wish we got more stuff like the index but with every passing year we seem to get more and more standalone headsets whilst pcvr headsets are few and far between. theres a reason this headset despite being outdated and old still reigns king and thats because they remain uncontested. nothing is even trying to fill that gap of pcvr only headset anymore from what im aware or atleast not to this level of quality.
got quest 3…4 days ago – I can tell you it’s kind of garbage. be prepared to swallow graphics that are like a throwback to the 90’s. the whole thing is totally underwhelming. The headset & strap is so badly designed & feels cheap.I use steamVr with it now so thinking of switching to valve anyway.
1 Year later and still no Deckard haha
I like the index more i like to get the index for crisis
I have a VR headset and I must say that VR is not ready yet. We need to get it down to where it is literally a pair of glasses and we’ll be a lot better off. VR is barely out of the jungle when it comes to convenience.
About the controllers, quets 3 already upgraded finger tracking, and controllers are smaller and lighter
I have a meta quest 3 and ngl it was worth it. Its easy to get mods for certain games like bonelab, blade and sorcery, and nightclub sim. As cool as i think the valve index is, i prefer the guest 3 for its price and playability. Also i js dont like spending 2k on a pc and 1k on a headset.
Meta designed the headsets to slowly die over the years so uh yeah
Just a correction, the front cameras on the index are intended for passthrough and are just not thought of by most people, the reason there not really known is due to the lack of quality, but they do have cameras too.
ehhhhhhhhhhhh valve index is way better for gorilla tag atleast
Dont buy Quest 3! Huge issues with PCVR. And also one of the firmware having but that the messege will pop up and said that your usb c port is disable because of liquid or debry inside the port. Bill crap firmware issue till now 8 months passed no changes cant use for PCVR!Support is not solve my issue.
Let me introduce you to my personnal story of purchasing a Valve Index. Ordered it, took 2 months to drop lenses were scratched I returned it, another month or so I receive my second unit, board had a defect cause just solid red light on the headset. then after a long journey in the valley of patience, my third unit came by. It’s working fine and they also send me a free cable cause that cable that links the displayport and the headset is simply not meant to be split. If you split it in two separate cables you can mess it all up cause the connection is so fragile. I didnt like my purchase at Valve and because of it I never purchased a steamdeck. Meta quest? Plug and play in less than 5 minutes with no cables and a passthrough cam in color for a third of the price. Obvious choice.
the quest is advertised as having well over that res. so its a lie. as in the settings there set way higher as default. shows like 3890×1860 or something. so it needs to be set down to the 2000s for it to run correctly. what a crock
Anything else for pcvr?
