Home assistant on Shelly Wall Display

Home assistant on Shelly Wall Display

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Update to the latest 2.3.0-beta firmware.

This update is required to use Home Assistant features on your display.

2. Access Home Assistant in Settings:

Go to Settings – Network, then tap “Home Assistant.”

3. Install the necessary update:

You’ll be prompted to update your device. Tap “Yes” to proceed and wait for the update to complete. This may take a few minutes, but it’s a one-time process.

4. Reconnect to Home Assistant:

After the update, go back to Settings – Network and tap “Home Assistant” again. A list of discovered HA servers will appear.

5. Configure your HA server:

You can edit the server address to point to a specific dashboard and enable kiosk mode for a cleaner look.

If your HA server is not found (due to VLANs or network differences), you can manually enter your full HA address (e.g., http://192.168.7.165:8123/dashboard-walldisplay?kiosk).

6. Save your settings:

Toggle the instance you want to integrate and tap “Save.” The device will reboot to apply the changes and set up the Home Assistant pages.

7. Use swipe controls:

As with other Wall Display pages, swipe down from the top to bring up the toolbar. Here, you can refresh the page or navigate back.

  1. But is it just an html frame showing the dashboard? Could we show other webpages instead as well?

  2. What device do you use to monitor your water tank levels? I have two black water tanks on top of my house. Looking for the simplest way to monitor tank levels without any wirings

  3. I will wait a month or 3 to get a shelly display if I need one, just so all day1 bugs are fixed and it runs a lot more stable.

also wonder how it works if you have duckdns active, needing a HTTPS connection for local. which is slightly bugged

  4. I heard that you can also use it a thermostat, is that true? I have a diesel heater and it would be nice if I can use this for a thermostat and to HA.
